Avatar BMFP 104

Listen to Podcast 104

Welcome to another episode of our weekly movie review podcast. This week, Avatar by James Cameron reviewed and rated by Brian, Jimmy and Big Will. We also share opinions about a possible 3rd Bryan Singer directed X-Men movie. Jimmy tells us about The Lord of the Rings coming to Blu-ray Disc finally, but it’s still missing something. Then we talk about the Holiday DVD Releases including Inglourious Basterds, The Hangover, G-Force and more. Next we discuss movies coming soon to theaters. We have Sherlock Holmes, Nine, Pirates 4 in the works, It’s Complicated and The Lovely Bones.

Thanks for listening and please tell your friends, we need more listeners.

Avatar: Jimmy's quick thoughts

I thought Avatar was incredible.  I loved the story, the screenplay, the special effects.  I thought the characters were great.  It was epic, climactic and just a beautiful well thought out movie.  If I get a chance to meet James Cameron, I swear I will kiss his hand!

Avatar IMAX 3D Tonight!

Avatar tonight! I bought tickets in advanced to see Avatar in IMAX 3D tonight. Looking forward to the movie, I hope everything is great and not just the special effects and the 3D experience. We will be reviewing this movie but probably not for a few days as the movie is 2 hours and 40 minutes. We won't be out of the theater until 3 AM!

There has been a lot of hype for this film and why not? James Cameron has not directed a movie in ten years. One of my favorite movies of all time is T2.

Avatar seems to be a movie similar to when the Pilgrims first came to America. And how they stole America right from underneath the Indians. These natives from the planet Pandora seem a bit more aggressive than friendly.

I will be trying hard to forget everything I've heard about the film. I want to leave all other opinions behind and simply enjoy the movie for what it is and generate my own original opinion. That will be difficult because of all the marketing and reviews popping up everywhere. The film has already been nominated for a Golden Globe. Hopefully that's a good sign.

Cheers,
Brian

Yes Man & My Best Friend's Girl by Big Movie Fan

I watched these two movies on blu-ray over the weekend. MBFG I had seen before and I thought it was hilarious. I highly recommend this flick. Dane Cook is hilarious and so is Jason Biggs.

3 out of 5 stars

Next up I saw Yes Man with Jimbo. I love Jim, I mean who doesn't? I've been wanting to see this movie for a long time but I never got around to it. I finally saw it today and I thought it was great. It's not better than his classics, but I thought it was time well spent. It was funny and had a story that wasn't too bad either, I say if you miss Jim being funny man Jim, then go rent it.

Big Movie Fan Podcast short Review of Ninja Assassin

The weekend is over. It's been a long and fun weekend. I saw a few movies. As I mentioned in my previous post, I watched Ninja Assassin on Thanksgiving Day. The movie had a lot of CGI gore. They added extra blood and some seriously graphic ninja wounds. The movie was directed by the same guy who directed V for Vendetta. It was produced by the Wachowski's and Joel Silver. I will say the movie does not compare to V. Which I thought was awesome. But I'd still recommend the film. I won't say rush to the theaters to go see it, but I'd rent the DVD.

Show Promo BMFP 102

The blog is setup, check it out. The show has been something that I have wanted to do for some time now. I plan on making this a great movie review podcast not just for the creators but also for the listeners.

I would love to hear any suggestions on how to make a better talk radio podcast. I am hoping to start doing the show live via USTREAM.tv We already have a USTREAM channel:

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/big-movie-fan-podcast

I will try to set a scheduled weekly time for live shows where you our listeners can call in live and let us know what you think about the movies we review each week. You can hear previous episodes there when we aren't live!

That's it for now.

Thanks,

Brian

It is coming soon...Thanksgiving is over!

Thanksgiving was great! Black Friday shopping is crazy. I went to see 2012, then walked out about 20 minutes in. This movie just seemed too bad to waste my time. After that I chose to see Ninja Assassin, I give it 3 out 5 stars.

Un-Official This Is It BMFP 101

Listen to Podcast 101

It's been a few weeks now and this podcast should be up and running soon.

My name is Brian. I a setting up this space to run a fun and interactive podcast. My co-host Jimmy will be helping out. We both love movies, but I'll say we don't feel the same about all movies.

Currently the studio gear is setup but not fully reconnected. I should fill you in on the podcast being an Audio Podcast. It will be very Radio Show like. I will try to quickly setup up a voicemail system so we can have you call in each week and give your thoughts on the movies we will be talking about.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I wish you all the best.

Here is a list of somethings that I want the show to include:

Film Reviews
Movie News
Upcoming Movie News
Listener Views and Reviews
and some good old smack talk

Star Trek Blu-Ray
I just bought and watched the new Star Trek on Blu-Ray. I have to say the film is near perfect. I thought it was extremely well done. Story was awesome. No time was wasted in this movie. The opening sequence itself shows us that. Right away we are indulged into a scene where the Starship is being attacked and as all this happens we are introduced to Kirk's father, mother and his very own birth. No time is wasted and something of significance occurs. Beautiful!

I hope to be back soon, until then Happy Thanksgiving!
